What

Beit Zatoun is very pleased to partner with Association for Native Development in the Performing and Visual Arts (ANDPVA) to showcase Native artists.

The evening presents a full and dynamic slate of artists performing various artist forms. It begins at 7:00 pm with a Warrior/Goddess Auction hosted by J'Net Cavanaugh and continues with the following program:
~ A reading by Lee Maracle from her new novel
~ Vocal performance by Michele St. John
  ~ Stand-up Comedy performance by Cherish Violet-Blood
~ Installation dance performance by Troy Emery-Twig
~ Reading complete by Lee Maracle

Established in 1972, ANDPVA is Canada's oldest Aboriginal arts service organization, providing support to Canadian Aboriginal artists in Ontario and around the world. At the time, there was little activity being generated or presented in the Aboriginal arts community. The original vision was for Aboriginal people to create social change through the arts. The performing and visual arts, the legends, stories, history and social issues of Aboriginal people were to be used to provide entertainment as well as to stir the conscience of Native and non-Native people alike.

The rich traditional heritage of Aboriginal people and Aboriginal art continues to contribute to the cultural fabric of Canadian society.
