Volunteers Corner

Volunteers have been at the heart of Zatoun from the beginning.  Beit Zatoun will be the same.  Volunteers provide more than time or energy they bring the goodwill and relationships which make something alive and exciting.  Zatoun's success rests on word of mouth and enthusiasm.

Beit Zatoun
is central for volunteers in Toronto creating more opportunities to participate in an easy-to-get-to location.

Volunteers can now drop in for 2 or 3 hours for specific tasks without needing the coordination and prep of earlier times.  Also the range of tasks has expanded to computer-based work and physical maintenance, etc.  You are invited to be involved at Beit Zatoun.  Below is a starting list of items / tasks that are needed.  Many are involved in startup especially needing to acquire furnishing and equipment - will be updated as needed.

Type of activity tasks:

  • Volunteering time in blocks of 3 or 4 hours to help with set-up and take-down for special events at Beit Zatoun
  • Periodic cleaning of Beit Zatoun (outside, inside, etc.)
  • Computer-based work - maintain lists, update databases, etc.
  • Research over internet or over phone certain topics (can be from home)
e.g. need 1 or 2 people to monitor craiglist or kijiji for items to purchase
  • Wrapping Zatoun soap, folding, etc.

Items need as loans or donations OR you may have a source for used or inexpensive purchase:

  • metal sheet music stands
  • tall sitting stools
  • theatre lights
  • vacuum cleaner
  • Persian-type carpet 8'x8' ft or larger
  • 2 small shelving units (5 to 6-ft high - rough utility type okay)
